A division of Holy Truth Veterans Housing
Program
"Share the Vision"It happened one night. A homeless veteran, living on the streets
and in the woods had a dream. A visionthat one day, he'd be in a position to provide education,
training and opportunities to fellow homelessveterans tossed aside by the country they selflessly fought for.
"Leave no man behind." It was thecreed he'd followed while fighting in the jungles of Vietnam,
South America and other locations.
Years went by. It seemed like the vision would never
materialize. Through a series of eventsthis homeless veteran received deliverance through Bishop
Kenneth A. Savage and Holy Truth Temple of Deliverance and Holy Truth Veterans Housing
Program. Three strokes endured while homeless should've ended it, though God
intervened and today that same said veteran has truly realized his vision. Share the Vision. The vision which
says that no matter what, get behind your veterans.Assist Holy Truth Veterans Housing Program in fully integrating
our Veterans Back to WorkProgram. With Holy Truth VetsTown Variety Store set for Grand
Opening in mid December10-15 veterans will be employed and with 5-6 more stores planned
for the immediate future75+ more veterans will be employed. At the same time, VetsTown
Carpet Cleaning & Upholsteryand VetsTown Home Improvement will be entrepreneurial
opportunities in an unprecedentedveteran owned and operated program.
For your own copy of "Share the Vision" let us know when
replying to this emailor contact us directly at (443) 759-4631When President Obama said,"Yes, we can." we knew He was right.
We proved it. Now, we need you to kick that up to "Yes, I Will!" by supporting Holy Truth Veterans Housing Programand our Veterans Back to Work Program. Help us give them
that second chance.
Sincerely,
James Peterson

Subject: Prometheus Radio Broadcast: June 2009
To: "Prometheus Radio Broadcast Subscriber" <baltimoreupdate@ yahoo.com>
Date: Friday, June 12, 2009, 9:48 PMWelcome to the June edition of the Prometheus Radio Broadcast! So far, it has been a triumphant month for low power radio, so grab your party hats and get ready to celebrate good news. This newsletter also offers the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and dig into new issues of regulatory policy, come out to fun events, and much more.Inside this issue:Hearing Date Set for Low Power Community Radio Act
The Road To LPFM VictoryWe are thrilled to report that the Communications, Technology and Internet Subcommittee of the US House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee hold a hearing on HR 1147, the Local Community Radio Act, on Thursday, June 11, at 10 am.
This is a thrilling and critical step toward passage of the Local Community Radio Act, a battle that Prometheus has been fighting for a number of years. With the passage of HR 1147, there will be space on the dial for hundreds, potentially thousands more non-commercial Low Power FM radio stations. At Prometheus, we are eager to get back to the work of building more LPFM stations and getting more local and progressive voices on the airwaves!
The Prometheus Radio Project is a small non-profit among many well-funded media giants; we count on our allies and friends to support our work to build a network of LPFM radio stations, to empower community voices through participatory media, and support movements for social change. Please consider making a donation today, on the occasion of this exciting milestone!LPFM Stations Saved by DC Circuit Court Ruling
In an important victory for low power radio, an appeals court ruled in favor of the FCC's right to protect LPFMs from encroachment by full power stations. The DC Circuit Court dismissed a lawsuit, filed by the National Association of Broadcasters, that sought to prevent the FCC in protecting low power stations from interference.

Prometheus Broadcasting Live at the Allied Media Conference
From July 16 to 18, Prometheans will be heading to Detroit to participate in the dopest conference ever, the 11th annual Allied Media Conference. In partnership with People’s Production House, we will host a two-day live radio broadcast and webcast as part of the “Laboratory for media-based solutions to the matrix of life-threatening problems we face” workshop. We will be also be teaching people how to solder a transmitter, demystifying the circuits that control people's access to radio technologies.Photo by Vanessa Miller.AMC Fundraisers
Detroit, home of the Allied Media Conference, is longway away from our home in West Philly, and we don’t have to tell you about those gas prices. . . So, to offset the cost of registration, housing, and travel, Prometheus is holding, not one, but two blowout summer fundraisers!

A Grassroos Media Conerence Report Back
On May 30, a handful of Prometheuns headed to New York to attend the Grassroots media conference. CLICK HERE to read about how media justice is about making the invisible visible, what you can lean about urban media consolidation from the top of the Empire State Building, how to fight back against cooperate media, and more!Supporting Artists at a Cost
So, who exactly gets paid when you hear Patsy Cline singing "Crazy" on the radio? It's not who you think—with the current laws on the books, the songwriter, Willie Nelson in this case, and his publisher are compensated, while the estate of Patsy Cline receives no pay for the performance. The Performance Rights Act would correct this weird state of affairs by requiring radio stations to pay a fee to compensate performers for the use of their music over the air. READ ON to see why there is such a strong need for performance fees in the US right now, and then let us know what you think. Do you support this bill? How could it be changed to be fair for performers, but also fair to small low power stations?
Closing Loopholes for Rural Radio
In an exciting Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, the FCC has finally recognized the systematic abuse of its policies by large corporations and has proposed changes that will protect small rural community stations. Will they really solve the problems that have finally been recognized, or will these proposed changes create similar loopholes that larger corporations will continue to exploit in the name of localism?
We need your feedback! Please send comments to Jade@prometheusradi o.orgThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it by July 13.CLICK HERE to read all about it.

Hi,
It's been a mix of good (political) and bad (economic) news as 2008 winds down.
Here at THE COFFEE HOUSE, we got a piece of very good news when, on December 6,
the show was honored with the “Monty” for Best Public Affairs program at the annual awards ceremony at Access Montgomery. This was our eighth Monty in as many awards programs since 2000. Meanwhile, we keep spreading our wings: This month we're pleased to announced the show will begin airing in Sacramento, California; Northwest Connecticut; Hollis and Phippsburg, Maine; Manchester, New Hampshire; Princeton, New Jersey; Taos, New Mexico; Fargo, North Dakota; Amherst, Ohio; and Kent, Washington. Scroll down for a complete schedule of channels carrying THE COFFEE HOUSE.
Of course, expansion is a double-edge sword as it raises our production/distribution costs. We think it's worth it and if you agree, perhaps you could so signal by making a quick, secure, end-of-year, tax deductible donation by clicking HERE. You'll never donate to a leaner organization: No one takes any salary for their work on the show. But it's still an expensive proposition to produce. So, many thanks in advance for your help!
Best wishes for the holidays and 2009,
Mark

"TOO BIG TO FAIL" ENCORE PRESENTATION: THE AUTO RESCUE PLAN
Following on the heels of the Wall Street bail-out, the Big 3 automakers made repeated visits to Washington to shore up taxpayer support for their flagging industry. We explore the economics and politics of saving the American auto industry with David Lightman, White House correspondent for McClatchy. (Host: Mark Cohen)
WILL THE OBAMA STIMULUS PLAN SAVE ILL-CONCEIVED HIGHWAY PROJECTS?
The devil is in the details: Where will the billions for infrastructure to put Americans back to work be spent? On repairing our deteriorating roadways and building clean mass transit, or for new, environmentally dubious highway projects that would otherwise die for lack of public funding? We speak with Stewart Schwartz of the Coalition for Smarter Growth. (Host: Mike Tidwell)

The Commission, established by Governor Martin O'Malley, found considerable racial and geographic disparities in the application of capital punishment in Maryland, and that the costs to incapacitiate via execution are substantially greater than to do so by a life sentence. The Commission is chaired by Benjamin Civiletti, US attorney general under President Jimmy Carter. (Host: Senator Jamie Raskin)

Hi,
>
>We are excited to release Baby Democracy Player (version 0.8.4) today, for
>Windows, Mac, and Linux. Baby Democracy is our first child, the first stage in
>a growing Democracy Player to come! We'll let you know when Democracy Player
>becomes a toddler, a schoolkid, etc. (We'll have pictures soon!) Baby
>Democracy is more stable and faster too, it's a strong and healthy baby!
>
>Download it here: http://www.getdemocracy.com
>
>If you're a digg reader, you can also spread the word and digg the story here:
>V
>
>Democracy Player is now much, much more stable-- we've fixed every crash and
>freeze that we know about. The application is also much faster, especially
>with lots of videos. This version is still a beta, but we're getting close to
>shedding our infant coats and becoming a 1.0 app. Our development team have
>been waiting anxiously to release 0.8.4 Democracy Player because there is two
>months of intense development that we have to show. The developers would also
>like me to note that we finished exactly 420 'tickets' (bug reports, features,
>etc) for this release.
>
>There are also a couple new features, most notably: you can now use Democracy
>Player as a desktop video player-- you can drag and drop or open videos in
>Democracy from your desktop. They will start playing and will be imported
>into your library. This is an important step towards making Democracy a good
>homebase for all the videos on your computer. (On a mac, this is especially
>nice because you can watch videos fullscreen with nice fullscreen controls,
>without buying Quicktime Pro.)
>
>Finally, we are already in week 2 of our 4 week development cycle for version
>0.9. Now that we've stabilized the backend, there are lots of features to
>look forward to-- folders, playlists, drag and drop within the app,
>non-english versions of the app; go here to help translate:
>Democracy as a generic torrent application, and for all you publishers:
>one-click subscribe and install / subscribe. Plus a bunch of nice UI tweaks
>and further speed improvements.
>
>We'll be releasing development versions of 0.9 each Friday and we could
>really, really use your help testing, if you like living on the edge. Just
>join the testers list, we'll email you when we post a new version and you can
>check out the new features as they arrive:

In an important victory for low power radio, an appeals court ruled in favor of the
way away from our home in West Philly, and we don’t have to tell you about those gas prices. . . So, to offset the cost of registration, housing, and travel, Prometheus is holding, not one, but two blowout summer fundraisers!
A Grassroos Media Conerence Report Back
So, who exactly gets paid when you hear
In an exciting Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, the FCC has finally recognized the systematic abuse of its policies by large corporations and has proposed changes that will protect small rural community stations. Will they really solve the problems that have finally been recognized, or will these proposed changes create similar loopholes that larger corporations will continue to exploit in the name of localism?
