DescriptionBaltimore Music Conference presents: "The Session"
Learn what you need to succeed in the entertainment biz today!

Our seminar series is an educational forum for the musician, the DJ, and
for those interested in the workings of the music industry. The
educational aspect of the BMC is one of much importance as we strive to
prepare those wanting to work within the industry with the information
and tools they need to succeed.

    Many of our seminars are
informal panel discussions centered around couches and comfortable
chairs or with people sprawled out on the floor intensely listening or
relaxing amongst their mentors and peers as this is, after all,
"Bawlmer hon", where we're a bit relaxed, a bit flexible and a bit
different than most, but most importantly, where we want you to feel
comfortable asking questions and speaking up!

for you, your label or artists.

    Lawyers, shmawyers who needs 'em?
    Well, maybe you actually!
Dark, brooding artists, fabulously funky go-go girls, rock n rollers or kings
of the streetz, - we realize your focus is on your art which it well
should be, but someone needs to know about contracts, licensing,
    copyrights, royalties, and more.
That's where 'the suits' come in,
so join this panel of entertainment attorneys who will tell you the
real deal about what you need to know.

    Trends in the Music Business
Music, its artists and message permeate all aspects of modern culture from
social undertones to politics and fashion. Partnerships between artists
and products push the influence of cultural icons to an ever-greater
reach thus contributing to and in many cases eclipsing, perhaps even
circumventing, all traditional notions of what we call "artist
development". This will cover various levels of sponsorship /
partnership for your events, artist product endorsements and the cross
pollination between Music, Fashion, Film, Television, and so much more

Deciding between a straight distribution deal versus a Manufacturing & Distribution deal
    Cost management
    Pitfalls to avoid

Networking your way to success in the Music Biz - Promo 101
Think the music industry embodies the "It's not what you know but, who you know" idea?
Wallflower or 'in your face' type of personalities can both benefit from this panel!
Learn tips and strategies from industry veterans on how to network your way
to success. Tap in to successful networking strategies from these
    networking gurus.

    Funding Your Project
Have a great idea for a film but no budget? The perfect music video is in your mind but
there's no money in your pocket, where do you find it?
Expert suggestions from those that have come up with a way to realize your dream film or video without nightmare costs.
How do you pay for your film? This is perhaps the most daunting and
important question to every filmmaker and videographer, but there is no
    one clear answer.
Come talk with producers, developers and grant-writers about the various ways you can find

the money you need to make that project come to life!
Find that funding, because the funding won't accidentally find you.

    Indie Labels
Today's top independent labels are not only surviving but thriving!
    What are their secrets?
Join label owners and managers in a discussion about the state of the
industry and what an Indie label needs to do in order to survive a
    cut-throat industry.

    Seminars & Workshops:

    The Blueprint for Music Success
    John Battaglia Jr
Many artists want to succeed, but few have a concrete plan in every area for
their success. Success in music starts with YOU. Just because you have
talent doesn't mean that you'll 'be a natural in presenting yourself'
    and attracting industry attention.
Join John Battaglia, author, speaker, and music career coach as he shares the 7 steps that *every
artist must know* in order to make their strongest impression and
increase their chances for success. Learn how to:
    * How to have your live performance blow people away
    * How to create your own unique look
    * How to hone the message in your music
    * How to portray yourself to the media in the most compelling way
    * How to make your strongest impression
    * How to define your sound in a cohesive way
    * How to be seen in your best light with your photos and presentation materials
    * How to attract the right team around you and build up your fan base
    * And much more!
DII (Doing It Independently) - Redefining "DIY".
    Keith Center
This presentation is about pushing away from the stereo types of DIY by creating a new term.
DII is no longer about doing the grunt work and having to have your hands on absolutely everything.
It is about having control of your career, being responsible for your
career, and not relying on others to make your career for you. Unlike
DIY however, it focuses on getting the right people for the job and
bringing the right individuals, teams, and companies on board to be
    successful.
